How practise you remove that metallic seal?
OK, so we're in the finish room, mask on face, gloves on hands, exhaust fan running...
We need some lacquer thinner to clean some equipment, we dump out the terminal flake from the open up can and grab a new gallon of lacquer thinner, struggle with the "child-proof" plastic torture device on the lid (I began to call them torture devices as my arthritis got worse) and finally remove the lid. Under the lid at that place that metal plug/seal kind of affair in the opening, and information technology has to be removed.
Has anyone institute a mode to go that matter the cervix out of there without damaging the opening of the can, so that the chapeau will seal? I've punched holes in them and tried to pull them out, I've tried to work a screw commuter under the edge (that tin can cause impairment to the tin), I've tried gripping the edge of the plug with needle signal pliers and pulling it out (that tin can cause harm)...
In that location must be a style, that I'm non thinking of, to become that thing out of at that place hands and without damaging the can!

They are a bugger, aren't they? They become a few pick words from me everytime I hit them with a screwdriver and they go down into the can..... I've found that an awl with its pointy little tip volition punch through and then you can rock the awl sideways and the "affair" will popular out.

Yous could always poke a hole in the pinnacle and lesser and pour it into a different container.

Re: How practise you remove that metal seal?
I always popular 'em with a thin flat blade screwdriver nigh the edge and rock them out. I have even so to ruin the threaded neck. Pete has a workable idea also but I would add together a puff of Bloxygen later doing it to keep air contamination to a minimum...

Re: How exercise you remove that metal seal?
I dial them in the center with an awl, and stone it as far over as information technology can, and that distorts the metal enough to pop out.

I apply a sharpened screwdriver to punch a hole about the edge and pry and rock it out. It also helps to make derogatory remarks about the can'due south ancestry.

Got Buckstrips?
Re: How do you lot remove that metal seal?
As far as the plastic ring on the cap, I always pop it off with a screwdriver. I don't have time to deal with it when I'k in the middle of something. I generally but punch a screwdriver through the seal and and so work the screwdriver until the seal pops out.
I'm wondering if you couldn't only use a vintage cork screw to pull it out.
You could even employ a commercial, heavy duty version.

Re: How do you remove that metal seal?
Is information technology necessary to remove it? With those things, I commonly puch two screwdriver holes (i to let air in) through the thing and have a slower, more controllable style to pour the stuff through the holes.

I e'er use my utility knife to pry open the seal. I tap the seal back in when done.
